Mentor Coaching

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) requires ten hours of Mentor Coaching in order to achieve either the Level I or the Level II accreditation.  Mentor Coaching for an ICF Credential consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on an observed or recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.

A Mentor Coach is someone who has achieved their PCC credential and is willing to work with a credential candidate towards:

Improve

  • Whatever the credential level, being a qualified Professional Coach takes a commitment to the ongoing development of both coaching mindset and coaching presence. *

Identify

  • Identifying a recording that will either pass the Bars for Level I or pass the Level II Markers evaluation.

Evaluate

  • If your Mentor Coach has taken the PCC Markers course, they may evaluate your work.**

Develop

  • Resource Development: Professional Coaching is a rapidly developing discipline. On-going resource development and training is essential.

Growth

  • Deepening and expanding skills as a coach, even after you have achieved your credential.

* It is the Mentor Coach’s job to provide development feedback, encouraging growth in your skills and presence as a coach.

** At Potentials, we try to have a different Assessor do the evaluation than the one who has worked with you thus far, whenever possible.
